Memorial Music has been serving the Memorial area since 1972. The original store was simply known as Musicville 40 years ago and later changed the name to Memorial Music. It was a very cool place in town with much to do about the current music scene in Houston. Concerts were promoted and the local buzz of music events was always around the store. Famous artists such as Clint Black were students and stars such as ZZ Top and Eric Johnson bought guitars and were honored guests at the store.
In 1990 Ron Hudson founded another division of Memorial Music, the Lonestar Guitar Company. Lonestar was the first major guitar company to import a full line of guitars from Mexico. Memorial Music is also the exclusive distributor of the world-class classical and flamenco guitars by the internationally famous luthier, Francisco Navarro. We have friends and clients from all over the world, some who are professional, concertizing guitarists and other fans who are looking for a superior classical or flamenco guitar. In addition to offering a full line of guitars and basses, we carry instruments such as violins, banjos, mandolins, requintos, ukuleles, keyboards, drums, harmonicas, recorders, music books and musical accessories. We have an in-house repair service for guitars, stringed instruments and woodwinds.
Memorial Music also offers excellent, fun and exciting music instruction in private studio lessons for a wide variety of instruments, such as guitar, bass, drums, piano, violin, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, clarinet, flute, saxophone, harmonica and voice. Our teachers are all background checked and well-qualified, experienced, professional musicians who also perform and record in various venues locally and worldwide. We teach ages 5 through adult and all levels from beginner to advanced. Memorial Music offers students instruction and mentoring in every aspect of music from theory and playing to performance and the opportunity to learn, explore and find their unique style.
